TAKE FINGZ – SHOOOP-E-DOOP – TOBY GEE

Brisbane-based label TakeFingz has already carved out a fan base after its first cook of EPs. They came from Forty Five Kings Collective members Deejay Katch and Toby Gee, who returns once more here for the label’s third fresh 45rpm. This is classic beat work that draws on several vital hip-hop and soul sources to cook up all-new yet recognisable sounds. ‘Shoop E Doop’ is a dusty and low-slung groove with plenty of attitude in the female verses and then there is more of an r&b bump n grind to the flip side, ‘I Like It’ (Wheels Of Steal mix) which brings retro charm to any dance.
